Déjà 3 ans que j’enseigne le handpan. Au début, une personne. Puis deux. Puis des groupes de 3, 4, 5… Jusqu’à accueillir aujourd’hui des groupes jusqu’à 22 personnes lors de workshops et retraites de 3 à 7 jours consécutifs, en France dans diverses régions et en Allemagne, bientôt en Suisse et aux Pays-bas.
Une aventure qui me dépasse, et la distance ne m’arrête pas. Je vis maintenant en Allemagne, mais je parcours des milliers de kilomètres simplement pour venir à votre rencontre et organiser mes stages, afin de vous partager et de vous enseigner ma passion, un instrument pas comme les autres, capable de transformer une vie, d’apporter ce petit quelque chose qui manque à notre bien être.
Avant le handpan, j’organisais déjà des retraites autour du bien-être et du développement personnel. Transmettre a toujours été au cœur de ma vie : partager ce qui m’a aidé, ce qui m’aligne, ce qui m’ouvre.
Aujourd’hui, j’aime par dessus tout cette étincelle dans les yeux de mes élèves quand leurs premières mélodies naissent et qu’elles-ils réalisent à quel point le handpan est accessible.
Je suis fier du chemin parcouru, mais par dessus tout, profondément reconnaissant. Merci pour votre confiance, pour la chance de vous accompagner, pour me permettre de vivre de ma passion.
Ce n’est pas toujours simple et de tout repos, loin de là, vous n’imaginez pas tout le travail, le temps et l’énergie qui est déployée en dehors de ce que vous voyez sur les réseaux sociaux… mais c’est magnifique, et cela nourrit mon cœur chaque jour ❤️

The background:
After years of legal pressure, makers and musicians from around the world are still free to build and play handpans — but that freedom is hanging by a thread:
The future of the handpan is at stake.
For over five years, makers and players from around the world have fought a legal battle to protect the freedom to build and play handpans.
In 2020, PANArt, creator of the original Hang®, claimed copyright over four basic features found in nearly every handpan — the lense shape, the central dome (Ding), the bottom port (Gu), and the circular arrangement of tone fields.
If successful, this would restrict or even end handpan making entirely.
Approaches of personal communication and a search for a bi-lateral understanding were unfortunately unsuccessful.
Countless handpan makers and shops were targeted by PANArt and to defend the community, we formed Handpan Community United (HCU).
After years of scientific work, legal arguments, hearings and over €1.1 million in legal costs, the court in Bern ruled that the Hang® is a “work of art”, granting a copyright for the Hang®. This decision is not final, though. Now, the next phase is underway and it will decide if handpans can remain free.
We work tirelessly to make sure we have the best arguments on our side. This fight isn’t over, and we stay hopeful that the court will rule in our favor and narrow a possible scope of protection of the Hang® as small as possible to keep the Handpan alive.
The parties involved are the ones on the frontline but the whole community, every maker, musician and listener will be impacted by the outcome of this case. We can no longer carry this alone. We need your help.
